We are women and even though we are told everyday we are “warriors” who should conquer all of our fears, tackle all that life throws at us, and achieve everything we set out to do! In reality we need to achieve what we can each day and make sure to take care of ourselves along the way!
We women tend to think of the needs of others first, thinking secondly of ourselves and often not paying attention to our own needs at all. But taking care to balance our lives and cherish ones self is so important to a healthy and happy life!
What can we do to cherish and care for the mind, body and soul? It doesn’t have to be a lot, in fact a small portion of each day can belong to taking care of you!
Here are a few ideas to help you keep your inner peace and balance in this hectic life.
- Get up early before the house is awake and spend 5 minutes reflecting on the good things about you. The things in your life that make you happy and what you can do to cut out the clutter in your life. Perfect simplicity for a smoother lifestyle.
- Take an early morning walk without the kids, the partner, the friends, or even the dog, all you need is 15 to 20 minutes of alone time for you, time to free your mind of all the must do’s in your life and just live in the moment of the day. Look around and admire that which nature has given you. Even in a bustling city there is so much to admire. The birds are everywhere.
- Learn to eat better for you, even if it’s just one change in your lifestyle that you can do for you. Cutting out large amounts of sugar in your diet can actually help to give you more energy and honestly who needs all that sugar anyway!
- Once a week after the house has gone to sleep or you can pass your children to another adult, take a bubble bath, put on a face mask to detox your skin, and listen to soothing music. This one simple gift to you can calm your nerves and rejuvenate your spirit.
- Have a dance party! Laughter and fun is essential, so turn up your favorite music then let loose and dance. The kids love dance parties and need to see you letting go of life’s worries. Dance parties aren’t just for kids, I like to dance in the kitchen when I’m cooking, I put on my Frank Sinatra station, pour myself a glass of wine and grab my husband off the couch to slow dance with me in the smells of our favorite food simmering on the stove.
You are not fragile you are important!
Cheers,
Toni
