The 90’s Smolder
Having matured through the smoldering 90’s I know all about big hair and glamorous eyes and one day I may share the big hair selfie but for now imagine the makeup look that gave us black smokey eyes with thick brows and pouty lips, a look that defined the 90’s grunge craze. Think Madonna and Courtney Love these two beautiful ladies who gave us a reason to wear ripped jeans, lace tops and the chic but ripped look.
The 80’s Rocked
Who remembers the 80’s electric blue eye liner and the we can conquer the world sexy swagger? I don’t know about you but I am thrilled to have been a part of the 80’s female rock era with the rocker look bringing to life electric blue eye makeup and the best female rock bands blasting from everyone’s cassette players. Think Joan Jett, Sheena Easton, Pat Benatar and my all time favorite Lita Ford, these ladies of rock brought us some of the sexiest looks ever.
The 70’s Paisley
The love generation gave us a softer side of makeup and brought back the au` natural look with a flawless finish and subtle glow in the flower power love sort of way. Soft pastels and charcoal eye liner was the perfect match for the cool and calm 70’s women. Think Farah Fawcett and Cher when you want to test out your 70’s makeup looks and don’t forget the feathered hair that was soft and oh so gorgeous.
The 60’s MOD
Thank god for the 60’s and the women who brought us the mini skirt, the bikini and MOD makeup. MOD makeup of the 60’s meant bright bold pinks, blues and the much loved cut crease eye liner. And here you thought the cut crease eye makeup look was inspired in recent years, well think again, as with all makeup trends they always come back to haunt us. Think Twiggy, Audrey Hepburn and of course Jackie O` the super sophisticated first lady who wowed the world with her classic yet trendy looks.
The 50’s Vintage
The 50’s to me are pure perfection! A period in time when women looked super polished as if they arose from bed each morning perfectly coifed and ready for anything. The bold Russian red lipstick stood out on porcelain skin and peachy cheeks were topped off with perfect penciled eye brows giving even the youngest teen a grown up look (you can find out more here). Mascara was refined in the 50’s when Revlon introduced the first ever tube mascara with a spiral wand but women still preferred the much loved Maybelline Cream Mascara, every woman’s go to cosmetic. Think Grace Kelly and Sophia Loren two stunning women who made men and women alike swoon when they walked into any room.
Each of these generations brought us looks we will never forget and are oh so trendy today!
